Notice to the Oak View Community: Transition of the Oak View Advisory Commission (OVAC)

On April 8, 2025, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution to dissolve the Oak View Advisory Commission (OVAC) in its current form. This decision followed a unanimous vote by OVAC members at their final meeting on March 10, 2025, to transition to a Neighborhood Council model. This new model aims to encourage more flexible and responsive community engagement by allowing for more frequent meetings, informal interactions with residents—free from the procedural limitations imposed by the Brown Act.

As we move forward with this new model of engagement, we encourage residents to stay connected and participate in an upcoming community discussion scheduled for Monday, July 14, 2025, at 6:30 PM in the Kunkle Room of the Oak View Community Center, located at 18 Valley Road in Oak View. This initial meeting, organized by local neighbors, will gather input on how the new Neighborhood Council will be structured and how it will operate. Please note that meeting dates, times, and locations may change; staying connected with the newly formed group will ensure you receive the latest information. We will continue to post meeting agendas on this page, as they are shared with our office by the Neighborhood Council.
